The History and Place of the Stengel's Gun Range

The Stengel Family

Casey Stengel retired from the Army in 1963 and bought 287 acres from sheep rancher Paul Allen on the west end of Rogers Mesa, west of Hotchkiss, Colorado. This land has become not only a haven for firearms enthusiasts, but also a training location for local law enforcement as well as a habitat area for wildlife.

The Facility

The Stengel Family property and gun range features 6 outdoor bays for competition, a short 50-yard pistol range, a 25-to-300-yard rifle bench rest range, a trap and skeet shooting range, and a 200 to 1900+ yard long distance rifle range.
